The following instructions are taken from an email from Microsoft support:
Cause:
User’s mailbox was not configured as per Dynamics App for Outlook requirements
Resolution:
As we discussed on the phone in order to be able to deploy Dynamics CRM app for Outlook successfully for your mailbox there are a couple or requirements that needs to be met.
the app is using Serve-Side Synchronization method and it work the same way in Exchange, Outlook and Mobile devises.
Instruction how to install the app are below:
- Navigate to settings > Email configuration > Mailboxes > select a user with active mailbox
- Set synchronization methods to “Server-side synchronization”
- Approve the mailbox (pending Office 365 Global Administrator to approve it)
- Test and Enable
- Once the mailbox passes all the test for Outgoing, Incoming emails and ATC with success you can proceed further.
- Navigate back to Settings > Dynamics 365 App for Outlook
- You will see a list of all eligible user for the app (these are all user with enabled SSS and Success status on the mailbox for Incoming, Outgoing emails and ATC)
- Select the desired user and click “Add app to Outlook”
- The status will change to Pending for up to 15 minutes
- Once the app is successfully installed the selected user will have a green message status “Added to Outlook”
- All you need to do now is open Outlook and on the top ribbon next to “store” button you will see “Dynamics” shortcut
- In Exchange Online the shortcut will appear inside the desired email in the top right corner
